Using Smart Search Filters
Learn how to effectively use filters in SwiftSam to find the right government contracts faster.
SwiftSam's Smart Search is powered by real-time data from SAM.gov and is optimized to help you quickly narrow down thousands of opportunities to the ones that matter most.
Filter Overview
To make the most of your searches, SwiftSam lets you filter by:
- Keywords – Include or exclude terms in the title or description.
- NAICS Code – Filter by industry classification.
- Set-Aside Status – Small business, SDVOSB, WOSB, 8(a), etc.
- Agency – Find opportunities posted by specific federal agencies.
- Location – Use place of performance or state filters.
- Published Date – Limit results to recent listings only.
- Notice Type – Presolicitation, combined synopsis, sources sought, etc.
Example: Find Small Business Set-Asides
To find opportunities specifically for small businesses:
- Go to the Smart Search page.
- In the "Set-Aside Status" dropdown, choose
Total Small Business
. - Add any keywords or agency filters you prefer.
- Click Search to view results.
You can save this filter set for future use.
Tips for Better Results
- Combine NAICS and keyword filters for more precise targeting.
- Use broad keywords like "cybersecurity" or narrow ones like "penetration testing."
- Save frequently used filters and reuse them from the Saved Searches section.
